What is Jensen Huang’s net worth?
Forbes values Jensen Huang at $175.3 billion on 3 November 2026. His economic stake in Nvidia is only around 3 to 4 percent, but the company’s market value makes even that slice one of the largest fortunes in the world.
Huang sells shares steadily through a pre-arranged trading plan, which converts a small part of the position into cash each quarter. Those sales are why his stake has drifted lower over time even as its value has risen.
Sources of wealth
| Source | Details | Approximate share |
|---|---|---|
| Nvidia | Roughly 3 to 4 percent of shares outstanding, including unvested awards that have vested. | Nearly all |
| Diversified accounts | Proceeds from scheduled sales, invested in funds and bonds. | Small |
| Property and other | Homes in California and a handful of private investments. | Small |
How the fortune was built
Huang was born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1963 and moved to the United States as a child. He studied electrical engineering at Oregon State and Stanford, and spent his early career at chip companies including LSI Logic and AMD.
In 1993, over a meeting at a Denny’s restaurant in San Jose, he and two engineers founded Nvidia to build chips that could render three-dimensional graphics. The company nearly failed in its first two years and bet on an unusual architecture in 1996 that paid off when PC gaming took off. Its GeForce cards became standard equipment in gaming computers.
The pivot that mattered most came in 2006, when Nvidia released CUDA, software that let its graphics processors handle general computing tasks. Researchers later used it to train neural networks, and Nvidia became the default supplier for AI hardware. Huang has run the company as chief executive since its founding and remains its public face, known for a keynote style built around technical detail.
Holdings and assets
Huang's personal assets outside Nvidia are modest by billionaire standards: homes in California and a small portfolio of private investments. He has given to Stanford and Oregon State, and to a scholarship fund for students from Taiwan.
Because his stake is small in percentage terms, any decision by Nvidia to issue large amounts of new shares, or a change in the AI capital spending cycle, has an outsized effect on the estimate.
How we estimate it
The share count comes from Nvidia’s latest proxy filing and the price from the close on our valuation date. Our methodology page explains how we treat vested options and unvested awards.
