What is Nawaz Sharif’s net worth?

CelebrityNetWorth estimates his fortune at $1.8 billion in November 2026, and notes that reported figures for him run from $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion. The total rests on family industrial holdings rather than any published personal balance sheet.

His wealth has drawn criticism for its lack of transparency and has been examined in multiple corruption cases and courts. The assets named in those proceedings, including London property, are the closest thing to a public inventory.

Sources of wealth

The core is the Ittefaq Group, the steel conglomerate his father co-founded in the 1930s and one of Pakistan’s largest steel producers. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto nationalised it in the 1970s, and recovering and expanding it became the organising purpose of Sharif’s political life.

He also controls the Sharif Group, which holds major agricultural and sugar interests, and has invested in oil-rich Arab states to rebuild the steel business. The 2016 Panama Papers showed his children owning offshore companies used to buy high-end London properties.

How the fortune was built

Born in Lahore on 25 December 1949, he studied art and business at Government College University and took a law degree from the University of the Punjab. He entered politics in the late 1970s against Bhutto’s nationalisation programme, and in 1981 Zia-ul-Haq made him Punjab’s finance minister.

He was chief minister of Punjab from 1985 and prime minister three times, in 1990 to 1993, 1997 to 1999 and 2013 to 2017. Each term ended in removal: resignation under military pressure, a coup, and disqualification after the Panama Papers.

How we estimate it

We publish the CelebrityNetWorth figure of $1.8 billion dated 3 November 2026 and cite the $1.5 billion to $1.8 billion range the source reports. Private conglomerates in Pakistan do not publish valuations, so the number is an appraisal of assets rather than a market price.

Court proceedings produced their own estimates and their own disputes, and Sharif has denied wrongdoing throughout. We do not treat any of those findings as a valuation.
