What is Alexander Lukashenko’s net worth?

CelebrityNetWorth estimates his fortune at $10 billion in November 2026. That figure is an unverified outside estimate. Belarus has never published an audited disclosure of its president’s wealth, and the only official numbers, his salary and registered property, are far lower.

Lukashenko rejects the estimate entirely. He describes himself as a modest public servant and has said he took nothing from the state and owns no foreign palaces or bank accounts.

Sources of wealth

In 2006 cables released by WikiLeaks, US diplomats in Minsk described Lukashenko as the richest citizen in Belarus, with a personal net worth of at least $9 billion, and as the richest of the country’s oligarchs. The same cables quoted the diplomat’s note that those on a list of the 50 richest Belarusians had the opportunity to enrich themselves.

A documentary by the Poland based opposition outlet NEXTA alleged spending of hundreds of millions on mansions, private planes, Rolls-Royces and Maybachs, including a Minsk palace put at $250 million and about 17 residences. He denies all of it.

How the fortune was built

Lukashenko worked as a Soviet border guard instructor and Komsomol organiser, then as deputy chairman of a collective farm and director of the Gorodets state farm and construction plant. He was elected to the Supreme Council in 1990 and chaired its anti-corruption committee on a reputation for toughness.

He won the new presidency in 1994 with 80.1 percent in the second round, then reshaped the constitution through referendums, took control of the National Bank and removed term limits. The accusations of enrichment track that consolidation of power rather than any business career.

How we estimate it

We publish the CelebrityNetWorth figure of $10 billion dated 3 November 2026 and show its reported components so readers can weigh them. No component has been audited, and nothing in the public record has been confirmed by an independent valuation.

The $9 billion figure in the 2006 cables was a diplomatic assessment, not an accounting exercise. The palace and property claims came from opposition reporting and are contested in court and in public by Lukashenko himself.
