What is Jared Polis’s net worth?
Net Worth Watch estimates the fortune at $400 million in November 2026. Jared Polis made his fortune in the first internet boom and has spent much of it on politics. He was elected governor of Colorado in 2018 and re-elected in 2022.
Most of the total sits in assets that are not priced daily, so the figure is a considered estimate rather than a bank balance. The profile below sets out each component and how firm it is.
Sources of wealth
The fortune divides into three main parts: early internet businesses and the sale of proflowers.
- ProFlowers and Provide Commerce Proceeds from the 2005 sale of the flower delivery business to Liberty Media.
- Venture and technology holdings Investments in start-ups and funds from the same period.
- Real estate and securities Property in Colorado and a public investment portfolio.
How the fortune was built
Polis founded American Information Systems while still at Princeton and later ran the family business before co-founding an online flower delivery service that became part of Provide Commerce. That group, including ProFlowers, sold to Liberty Media in 2005 in a deal worth roughly $470 million.
He served five terms in the House from 2009 to 2019 and became the first openly gay man elected governor of a US state. His campaign spending has been unusually large for a state race because much of it came from his own pocket.
The figure is dominated by liquid investments and venture holdings from the internet years, so it moves with public markets.
How we estimate it
We start from the best available record of what the person owns: company filings, stock exchange positions, property registers, investigative reporting and, for historical figures, reconstructions of the assets they controlled. Where a holding is private we compare it with listed peers, and where the record is thin we say so in the profile.
Figures are shown in US dollars and reviewed on the date at the top of the page. A net worth is not the same as annual income, and it can move sharply when markets or currencies move.
