What is Al Gore’s net worth?
Net Worth Watch estimates the fortune at $300 million in November 2026. Al Gore served eight years as vice president and came within a Supreme Court decision of the presidency. His later career produced far more wealth than his political one.
Most of the total sits in assets that are not priced daily, so the figure is a considered estimate rather than a bank balance. The profile below sets out each component and how firm it is.
Sources of wealth
The fortune divides into three main parts: technology boards, investing and media.
- Apple and Google roles Board and advisory positions held after leaving office.
- Generation Investment Management Co-founded fund focused on sustainable investing.
- Current TV and media Sale of the cable channel to Al Jazeera in 2013.
How the fortune was built
Gore was a Tennessee congressman and senator before joining Bill Clinton’s ticket in 1992. After the 2000 election he joined the boards of Apple and Google, where he served as a senior adviser, and co-founded the investment firm Generation Capital.
He also co-founded Current TV, the cable channel sold to Al Jazeera in 2013 in a deal that paid him a reported $70 million, and his documentary An Inconvenient Truth turned climate work into a global platform and a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
The portfolio is a mix of equity positions, fund interests and property, so the total follows the market rather than any single asset.
How we estimate it
We start from the best available record of what the person owns: company filings, stock exchange positions, property registers, investigative reporting and, for historical figures, reconstructions of the assets they controlled. Where a holding is private we compare it with listed peers, and where the record is thin we say so in the profile.
Figures are shown in US dollars and reviewed on the date at the top of the page. A net worth is not the same as annual income, and it can move sharply when markets or currencies move.
