What is Mohammed VI’s net worth?

Net Worth Watch estimates the fortune at $6 billion in November 2026. Mohammed VI is both head of state and, through the royal holding structure, a central figure in Moroccan business. That combination makes his fortune one of the largest in Africa.

Most of the total sits in assets that are not priced daily, so the figure is a considered estimate rather than a bank balance. The profile below sets out each component and how firm it is.

Sources of wealth

The fortune divides into three main parts: al mada holding and palace assets.

  • Al Mada Royal holding company with bank, telecom and mining stakes.
  • Palaces and estates Royal residences and agricultural land across Morocco.
  • Art and vehicles Collections and a reported collection of cars and aircraft.

How the fortune was built

He became king in 1999 and built a reputation early on as a moderniser, reforming family law and pushing infrastructure. Al Mada, formerly ONA and SNI, holds large positions in Attijariwafa Bank, Maroc Telecom and mining group Managem.

The royal holding controls a sizeable slice of the Casablanca stock exchange, and the palace network adds property and agricultural estates. Published estimates of the personal share range from $2 billion to $8 billion.

The holding company is corporate rather than personal property, so estimates depend on how much of it is attributed to the king.

How we estimate it

We start from the best available record of what the person owns: company filings, stock exchange positions, property registers, investigative reporting and, for historical figures, reconstructions of the assets they controlled. Where a holding is private we compare it with listed peers, and where the record is thin we say so in the profile.

Figures are shown in US dollars and reviewed on the date at the top of the page. A net worth is not the same as annual income, and it can move sharply when markets or currencies move.
